Common Jobs That Will Keep You On The Road

It’s a wonderful idea to consider traveling by car, writing stories, taking photos, or even following a band, but not all of us are so lucky as to secure funding or creative inspiration to do such things.

That said, there are many jobs out there that still allow you to travel, even if it’s not for the sake of art, music, or freelance-based work. You can, in fact, feed your travel bug and still have a consistent salary to boot. Here are some of the best “common” jobs that will let you drive to your heart's content.

Sales Representative

If you’re a people person, an outside sales representative may be the job for you. Many folks travel to different cities in the hope of finding prospective clients. In this role, you may be required to do product demonstrations, meet clients face-to-face, and come up with sales strategies to better understand how you can get your product out there.

Field Service Technicians

As a field service technician, you’re sent out on the road to help clients with installation, maintenance, and the repair of equipment or systems. The work may seem dull, but it’s a crucial element of making sure important systems are running properly across different sectors. You could find yourself being a technician for manufacturing, telecommunications, or healthcare-based systems.

Event Managers

Maybe self-explanatory, but event managers are the backbone of any event planning. They are required to manage budgets, secure venues, vendors, and entertainment, promote the event, and figure out safety and security measures, all in the name of creating a money-making, seamless, and well-loved event. As an event manager, you may find yourself organizing conferences, weddings, and festivals, which require travel to oversee the success of every puzzle piece.

Auditors

As an auditor, you are responsible for traveling to different organizations to examine their financial records, primarily to ensure that the company is remaining compliant. You will access financial statements and internal systems to report on whether a company is maintaining legal and regulatory standards, while identifying any risks or fraud that may pop up in your research.

Healthcare

The healthcare sector can be huge on travel if you know what you’re looking for. Traveling nurses, physicians, therapists, pharmacists, or even those in the sales and administration sector can be a great way to travel for short periods of time. Most often, you’ll be brought into different locations on short-term contracts, either to fill in for professionals on leave or to support rural communities that may not receive a lot of medical attention.

Of course, delivery drivers for different companies are also a great option if you’re looking to travel around a little bit, or you could invest in an 18-wheeler and hit the road for longer periods of time-but a stable paycheque and a home to return to at the end of each day is probably what most folks are looking for. You just need to know what you’re looking for.
